Keep in mind that allergies cannot be cured, but only treated enough to keep your dog comfortable. Parasites, however, only require one treatment and then your dog should be back to normal.

The Distration Treatment

Sometimes you can distract your dog from itching himself. You can try this even as your dog is on medication, as its helpful to divert their focus. Offer a toy or initiate a game that will keep your dog from itching, making sure to gently stop the dog if he beings to itch.

Some people even resort to putting socks on their dogs to reduce the severity of the itch and, if your dog will allow it, consider doing the same.

Nobody likes to see their dog over-itch, but fortunately there are ways to seek treatment. Jack Russells are particularly predisposed to allergic reactions so there’s really nothing you can do to prevent such issues occurring, but if you know how to respond you can give you pet the best treatment possible so he’s a much happier and healthier dog.
