Frontline vs. Advantage is probably on your list of comparisons if you are in the market for flea protection. Because it kills the fleas in the adult stage so quickly, within 12 hours of initial application and within 2 hours of any that have braved re-infesting your dog, there are no eggs to worry about. Frontline uses fipronil to kill fleas and tick. It too works within 12 hours of initial application to kill the fleas preventing eggs from being laid. Unlike Advantage's imidacloprid that spreads on the skin only, fipronil is carried through the oil glands to the skin and hair.

Deciding between Frontline vs. Advantage comes down to use. We all worry about ticks but some of us live in areas where ticks aren't as populous and fleas are the real problem. If that is the case then you might want to try Advantage. It is cheaper than Frontline and comes in a four pack. But if you need to protect against more than just fleas purchase the Frontline.
