The Proper Eczema Lotion For You Or Your Child

An eczema lotion can't treat the symptoms of eczema. Despite this, many who are suffering from eczema would still prefer to purchase one since it does help relieve the itchiness associated with eczema rashes. If not, it is the parents of children and babies with eczema who frequently purchase eczema lotions since it is they who suffer the most from the discomforts of these irritating rashes. However, there are different types of eczema lotion and it is sometimes difficult to figure out which kind is appropriate for you or your child.

An eczema lotion does not have the same ingredients as an eczema ointment or cream has. There are three types of eczema lotion - those that only moisturize, those that have soothing properties, and those that combine these two functions. Typical eczema lotions have simple plain moisturizers found in ordinary lotions. The difference between them is that an lotion has a mild hypoallergenic formula that has little to no chances of aggravating eczema whereas an ordinary moisturizing lotion has greater chances of aggravating eczema. The main ingredient of a simple moisturizing lotion may either be natural or synthetically created. But whatever ingredient these eczema lotions may have, they are least likely to aggravate your eczema.

Eczema lotions that have soothing properties have a more specific purpose than typical eczema lotions which only moisturize the skin. This type of eczema lotion is meant to decrease and alleviate the itchiness of eczema rashes. But the best eczema lotions are those that contain both moisturizing and soothing properties because they serve two purposes in a single lotion package. The varying types of eczema lotion are meant to address the different manifestations of eczema. Eczema manifests rashes that are either swollen or dry and these lotions can specifically cater to these different symptoms.

If you, your child, or your infant has a dry eczema rash, it is best to use moisturizing eczema lotions. With this certain rash, the itching of the skin is triggered by its dryness. The simple solution would be to moisturize the dry skin with a moisturizing lotion. This should be able to alleviate the itching of the skin.

When the rashes appear as swollen red blotches on skin or as red itching bumps, a moisturizing lotion will do no good. That is because the itching of the skin is caused by the inflammation which in turn irritates the nerve endings found on the skin's two topmost layers. Instead, use eczema lotions that have soothing ingredients. Two common soothing ingredients are Aloe Vera and Blueberry leaf extract. These ingredients are able to calm the nerves of the skin and in so, decrease the itching sensation.

Eczema lotions that have both soothing and moisturizing ingredients are preferable since they can be utilized in different types of eczema rashes. With dry eczema rashes, these lotions have double the effect in alleviating itchiness. As for eczema rashes that appear as itching bumps, these lotions not only decrease itchiness by calming the nerves but they can also prevent the aggravation of eczema by preventing dry skin.

In conclusion, the right lotion for you or your child depends on the eczema symptoms that you or your child is experiencing. With proper identification of how the rash appears, you will be able to trace the root cause of the itching and be able to address that by choosing the right one.
