Details You Need To Regard In Making A Permanent Magnet Alternator

If you see yourself running out of car or motor battery in an area where there is no auto parts store nearby, you could actually generate power without any battery or any other source of power required and that can be achieved by knowing how to build a permanent magnet alternator. There are two parts of the alternator which are the stator and the rotor in which the first part mentioned will be inserted into the second part mentioned. Once the the stator is inserted into the rotor, you have to use a sprocket to adapt the rotor to the shaft and make sure that the sprocket is centered on the inside of the rotor. Before you withdraw the shaft from the sprocket hub, you have to spin first the rotor on the shaft. You will be needing to spin the rotor again, so to be able to do that you need to weld the sprocket to the rotor and remove the clamps re-inserting the shaft.

Get some aluminum foil in welding the sprocket in order to protect the magnets on the rotor. And for the bolts to get into the stator, there should be four even spaced holes drilled on it. There will be bolt couplers with screws which will be placed to the same side of the stator that serves as a plug.

The angle steel pieces which are welded to the foundation for the unit should be aligning the aluminum or wood blocks to the outside edges of the base. Drill tap holes from the plate to the wood blocks located on the underside of the base and screw one block into place.
On the outside of the stator which will be covered with masking tape, there should be a mounted bearing on the wood. Again insert the stator to the center of the rotor sliding these two parts on the shaft. Slide the shaft to the bearing and add the other block and bearing.

Now you need to spin the rotor until the nut couplers are vertically and horizontally aligned with the baseplate and get the measurements of the distance between the bottom nut couplers to the base and the two top and two bottom nut couplers. Mark the measurements because this is where you will drill each piece of angle iron. You need to secure that the uprights to be welded to the base plate are aligned before you re-assemble the parts. The stator is also needed to be aligned inside the rotor by aligning and moving the shaft. Finally tighten the screws and the bearing on the shaft when everything is aligned in the correct place.
